A

Attachment
An attachment is a file sent with an e-mail message. It can be a picture, a word document, or any other file which requires another program to open it.

Browser
A browser is an application program that allows users to interact with the World Wide Web (WWW). Examples of well known browsers include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Cache
Cache (also known as web cache or HTTP cache) is a temporary storage or memory that allows fast access to data.

Captcha
Captcha is an online test where users are required to fill in inputs from a given image. It is used as a way to distinguish between human from computers and prevent computer-generated spam messages.

CMS
Content Management System (CMS) is a system used to manage the creation, modification, and removal of content from a website without needing the expertise of a web designer.

Concurrent user
Maximum number of users log in to the system or visit the website within a second.

Control Panel
AfterOffice Control Panel is a place for the Virtual Office administrators to modify system settings and controls, such as user account settings, user groups and access control, SMTP settings, Junk settings and more.

Daily Outgoing Email Quota
Limits the number of email sent per day.

DNS
Domain Name System (DNS) is an Internet service that converts domain names (which are alphabetical and easily remembered) into IP addresses.

Domain
Domain name is used to identify the location of particular server that keeps your corporate entity on the Internet.

Email Bandwidth
The rate at which the email data can be transferred.

Email Header
The first part of any email message that contains information of the sender, recipient, date and subject.

FTP
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol commonly used to transfer files between a client and server on a computer network.

HTML
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is a language that is used to create webpages.

IMAP
Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is a standard email protocol that allows email clients to access email messages on a server without the need to download them into local computer or mobile phone.

IP Address
A unique address made from a string of numerals that is used as an identifier for each device participating in computer network.

ISP
Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a company that provides customers access to the Internet.

LAMP
LAMP is a web development platform that uses Linux (“L”) as the operating system, Apache (“A”) as the web server, MySQL (“M”) as the database management system and PHP (“P”) as the programming language.


M

MailBooster
MailBooster is a value added service to AfterOffice Email that helps to protect all your business email from bouncing back when your mailbox is full (exceeded email disk space), assuring seamless business communication.

Mail Client
Mail client refers to the program or application that you use to send, receive and organize e-mails. Some examples of mail clients are MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail.

Mail Server
Mail Server is a server that is involved with handling e-mails over the Internet. It receives incoming e-mail and delivers e-mail to the recipient's e-mail address over a network.


P

Phishing
A form of fraud where the attacker attempts to obtain sensitive information from Internet users such as usernames, passwords, or credit card details and use it for malicious purposes. An example of phishing is through malwares attached to emails, which are sent to users over the Internet.

POP
Post Office Protocol (POP) is a simple email protocol that allows mail clients to download emails from the server in a one-time manner.

SMTP
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is a protocol designed for sending and receiving e-mail.

Spam
A spam is an unsolicited e-mail that is sent over the Internet. It is usually referred to as junk e-mail.

Suspicious Access Prevention
Suspicious Access Prevention (SAP) is a geo-location control feature built on top of your Virtual Office account login authentication process that rejects potential suspicious access.

URL
Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is a reference (address) used to locate resources over the World Wide Web (WWW). It is commonly termed as a web address that refers to a web resource.

VO Credits
VO Credits is an easy and convenient way to pay for various AfterOffice app features that are not free and it is on pay-per-use basis.

Virtual Office
AfterOffice Virtual Office (AVO) suite is a web-hosted application service that comes with several office and business solutions, such as email, cloud storage, calendar, contact manager, web-based instant messenger and more.

Webmail
AfterOffice webmail refers to the email service that is available in the Virtual Office application.

World Wide Web (WWW)
A global information medium where users can access documents, graphics, audios, videos and other web resources via the Internet.
