How to Change Password on your Mail Clients


Please follow the instructions below to reset your email account password on MS Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird or Mac Mail.

MS Outlook 2003
1. Open Outlook.
2. Click the “Tools” menu, then select “E-mail Accounts”.
3. Check that “View or change existing e-mail accounts” is selected, then click “Next”.
4. Highlight the email account where you want to change the password, then click “Change”.
5. Under “Logon Information”, type in the new password in the “Password” field.
6. Click “Next”, then “Finish”.

MS Outlook 2007
1. Open Outlook.
2. Click the “Tools” menu and choose “Account Settings”.
3. Select the email account where you want to change the password, then click “Change”.
4. Under “Logon Information”, type in the new password in the “Password” field.
5. Click “Next”, “Finish” and “Close”.

MS Outlook 2010
1. Open Outlook.
2. Click the “File” menu, then select “Account Settings”.
3. Click “Account Settings” again.
4. Highlight the account that you want to change the password, and click “Change”.
5. Type in the new password in the “Password” field.
6. Click “Next”, “Finish” and “Close”.

Outlook Express
1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Go to “Tools”, then “Accounts”.
3. Click on “Mail” tab.
4. Highlight the account that you want to change the password and then click “Properties”.
5. Type in the new password in the “Password” field.
6. Click “Apply”, then “OK”.

Windows Mail
1. Open Windows Mail. 2. Go to “Tools”, then “Accounts”.
3. Click on “Mail” tab.
4. Highlight the account that you want to change the password and then click “Properties”.
5. Type in the new password in the “Password” field.
6. Click “Apply”, then “OK”.

Mozilla Thunderbird
1. Launch Thunderbird. Select “Options” from the “Tools” menu.
2. Click on the “Security” icon.
3. Click on the “Passwords” tab and then on the “Saved Passwords…” button. A window called “Saved Passwords” will appear.
4. Select the “Show Passwords” option. When prompted on a confirmation message, click “Yes” to view the current password.
5. Select the password you wish to remove and click the “Remove” button.
6. Now, close all windows and restart Thunderbird.
7. Thunderbird will prompt you for a new password. Enter the new password and check the “Use Password Manager to remember this password” checkbox.
8. Press “OK” to save your new password.

Mac Mail
1. Launch Mail.
2. Click “Mail” menu and select “Preferences”.
3. Click the “Accounts” tab.
4. Select the account name that you want to change the password.
5. Click the “Passwords” field to select the old password, press “Delete” and type in your new password.
6. Click the “Close” button.

iPhone Mail
1. Select the Settings icon from your home screen.
2. Scroll down and select Passwords & Accounts.
3. Select the account you want to update. E.g. name@yourdomain.com.
4. Change the Password below “Incoming Mail Server”.
5. Then, click on the SMTP mail server under “Outgoing Mail Server”.
6. Under “Primary Server”, click on your mail server e.g. mail,yourdomain.com.
7. Change the Password below “Outgoing Mail Server”.
8. Click Done.
9. Click Back > Done.
